Microfluidics for Rapid Detection of Live Pathogens

نویسندگان

چکیده

Rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of live pathogens remains a key priority for quality control risk assessment. While conventional methods often require complicated workflows, costly reagents, lab equipment, are time-consuming, rendering them inadequate field testing low-resource settings. Increased attention has been drawn to developing alternative low-cost rapid detect on-site in different environmental matrices. Among them, microfluidic devices that integrate various laboratory functions miniaturized manner have proven be promising tool the sensitive pathogens. Herein, development specifically designed is discussed along concise summary novel microfluidics systems recently developed, contrasted regarding assay time, limit detection, target organisms. These include variety micro total analysis (µTAS) paper-based analytical (µPADs) combination with molecular traditional cell techniques, such as culture, DNA intercalating dyes, resazurin, immobilized bioreceptors (e.g., aptamers capture antibodies). Furthermore, insights on future perspectives pathogen highlight method provided.

Rapid Detection System of Airborne Pathogens

We developed new processes which can collect and detect rapidly airborne pathogens such as the avian flu virus for the pandemic prevention. The fluorescence antibody technique is known as one of high-sensitive detection methods for viruses, but this needs up to a few hours to bind sufficient fluorescence dyes to viruses for detection. In this paper, we developed a mist-labeling can detect subst...

Molecular approaches for detection and identification of foodborne pathogens

Foodborne pathogens comprise microorganisms such as viruses, bacteria and parasites that can be transmitted by food and affect public health worldwide. The most common viruses transmitted via food are hepatitis A virus and Norwalk-like caliciviruses. Also, the most common bacteria involved in foodborne illnesses are Campylobacter jejuni, Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella spp, Escherichia...

Rapid and multiplex detection of Legionella's RNA using digital microfluidics.

Despite recent advances in the miniaturization and automation of biosensors, technologies for on-site monitoring of environmental water are still at an early stage of development. Prevention of outbreaks caused by pathogens such as Legionella pneumophila would be facilitated by the development of sensitive and specific bioanalytical assays that can be easily integrated in miniaturized fluidic h...

Diagnostic System for Rapid and Sensitive Differential Detection of Pathogens

Naturally emerging and deliberately released pathogens demand new detection strategies to allow early recognition and containment. We describe a diagnostic system for rapid, sensitive, multiplex discrimination of microbial gene sequences and report its application for detecting 22 respiratory pathogens in clinical samples.

Fluorescence spectroscopy for rapid detection and classification of bacterial pathogens.

This study deals with the rapid detection and differentiation of Escherichia coli, Salmonella, and Campylobacter, which are the most commonly identified commensal and pathogenic bacteria in foods, using fluorescence spectroscopy and multivariate analysis. Each bacterial sample cultured under controlled conditions was diluted in physiologic saline for analysis. Fluorescence spectra were collecte...
